I'm looking at some sort of device or equipment that I could use to sweeten up the digital sounding outputs of my PreSonus Firestudio. Basically I'm using it the output to send it to effects or anywhere in the studio chain.
I'm good at soldering, hence I'm also looking for DIYing better compressor or eq.
Currently I'm using the FMR RNC as a compressor but it's to my ears too neutral and sending digital outs to it, makes it clear. I guess I would like to add dirt or analog warmness to my tracks.
What would you recommend?

The Amek Mozart was a very nice console, and its strips would likely give you some warmth and character, but there are other choices. You might also want to consider a good analog summing mixer.
Dangerous, Neve, SPL and Burl all make very nice summing devices. They aren't necessarily cheap, but they would give you what you are after.
One thing I would advise is to not return the signal to the same DAW. I'd get a second PC, loaded with a good two track editor ( soundforge, wavelab, etc) and after coming out of whatever device you put in the chain, send the final mix to the second DAW.

There's also an ad for 4 of the Amek Mozart's Channel Strip and it seems like the seller was using it a channel strip to his inputs. Anyone use these before? How does it sound? Any comments on this?
