hey man, theres good energy to this song, good solid intro, something you could start a circle pit to! the bass guitar its tough to hear on small speakers, id say the vocals are a bit too high, and the cymbals need some work, that sound a bit brash. id also consider taking out the complex kik part in the solo, as it distracts from the solo. keep it simple during the solo. id also cut a little bit of the lows from the vocals or maybe use a HPF. Id also consider trimming a little bit a lows or low mids [mud] from the snare so it cuts and sings a bit more. you may want to experiment with some delays and small room reverb as well, to add some depth, dimension, and glisten to the drums.

i notice theres a consistency to the mixes [and issues], which strongly suggests your room and/or monitors arent telling you the entire truth. you may want to add some more room treatment, and/or experiment with where the speakers are placed within the room. 6" closer or further from the wall(s) [boundry] can make a big difference and let them project flatter, or move your listening position into a flatter area of the room.

Try this -- just for fun -- get all those vocals in the center of the mix - I want to hear how that sounds. I liked the song and the ethos of the production.

I loved it! Vocals in the middle make a huge difference. You've got some pretty pumped bass/subs on this but that works for me. My only criticism of this as a producer/songwriter is that in the middle of the guitar solo (which is great) you suddenly stop - then you pick it up again - (the track just suddenly sucks wind with the loss of energy there) -- then right at the end of the solo there's an unnecessary drum fill that does the same thing (interrupts the energy of the song that you just built) -- I think you should stretch out that initial solo then cut that whole drum fill out and go right back into the music with vocals as soon as the guitar solo ends. But apart from that I think you have the making of a killer track.

Little story - was hanging with a few band mates years ago - early 90's - playing pool with some LA based musicians who were up in Vancouver for a show... They were a fun band - just starting to get a little buzz in the indie/punk/grunge/era -- fun but my tastes ran more towards AIC & Soundgarden ----- They did a good show - we had some beers - Life was cool and I left the country shortly after to travel for several years.

Several years later I find myself on a beach in Thailand on my way back from Nepal -- and a kid shows up with some bootleg tapes from Bangkok -- He's really excited about this one tape in particular - says it's the biggest band in the world right then.

Turned out to be my friends -- that same band that came up to Vancouver from LA that we spent the evening with all those years ago.... I'd been traveling in the 3rd world and SE Asia for years and hadn't seen any media.... The band of course was Green Day.

You stuff totally reminded me of the kinds of songs they played at that early gig! Very cool. Keep going with it.
