Hello! This is my first post on this forum, or any music recording forum for that matter, and I was wondering what would a good price be to charge for bands to record their music in a studio and for me to mix it? I am very interested in sound and music engineering/producing and I think that this could be a good start. Thank you!

When I started off I had exactly that, a cheap Peavy mixer, a couple mics and 2 soundblaster sound card (giving 4 inputs). I charged 10$ an hour but I had already 15years of live mix experience. 15years later, with over 20k invested in preamps, room building, mics, computer and instruments. I charge 30$/hour. But the business is very low lately and I'm wondering if a price drop could help. (going to 25$)

Are you interested in engineering or are you an engineer? There's a big difference.
If you are interested in being an engineer, then you shouldn't really be charging anything, because you don't know what you are doing yet. If you already are an engineer, then you should charge based on your equipment, your talent and what your geographic area competitively supports.
It takes far more than just owning a computer, a DAW program, a cheap pre i/o and a couple of cheap mics to call yourself an engineer or to consider yourself a studio.
