Since DIY is gone, I'm not sure where to post this.

Where would one find the information they need to build your own DAW? I'm not sure I'd really want to tackle that job, but it would be fun to explore it a little.

Also, who makes the best dedicated DAWs and who has the best value in a DAW?

(I'm talking strictly about building the computer and installing the OS and related software/components. I would probably just install my current audio software on the machine.)

This has always been a great discussion.
I'm sure you know I build machines as well as others around these forums.

One thing to note is the burn in period of the machine. Having the DAW builder install the audio application as well as the hardware is a good idea as then the configuration can truly be tested properly before being sent to the client!

DAW builders..
Carillon makes them, rather expensive IMHO, and I've heard mixed results as to whether they work properly out of the box

If you go to the Nuendo forums there are some people advertising as well.

Who makes the best one...no one person can tell you that. I could tell mine are the best, they're good but computers always have flwas in some regard or another!

Take a look at the computing forums as there is LOTS of information there about it.
