I just acquired a brand spankin` new VTB-1 preamp and a RNC compressor, but i'm not sure how to set them up together. I have the preamp under control, and i want to connect the compressor up so that i can compress on the way in, as i'm recording. I'm guessing that i have to use the sidechain but the TRS things are really confusing. Anyone know how i might go about doing this? Ta in advance.

I have a similar question. I'm running a Yamaha O1V into a digi oo1. I just got a behringer compressor for cheap that I want to use along with the compressors on the O1V, just for somethign different. The O1V doesn't have inserts so I can't use it as an insert on the board. Is there a way I can set this up so I can use my composer? Thanks.

For recording/tracking, compressor comes somwhere after the mic preamp.
Line out of the mic pre into the line input of the compressor out to the line input of your recording device. A compressor's Side chain is only used in complex dynamic manipulation.
