Another thing I'm learning about are these two discs. Any experience with these and word talking about?

They look like they would be simple to make.

Is part of the science around stereo recording to create a human POV made this simple. The foam disc acts like your head and the mics are your ears. Obviously more to it than this when we are dealing with reflections and room but wow, Never thought about it quite like this.

That is the basics. The disc provides a centerish null for the pair of omni SDC mic's like your actual body does when listening to a sound source. I haven't played with one so don't really know whether I think it's better or not than without. It can be used for any near coincident technique like A-B ORTF or NOS.
