Hello and Welcome to RO! We are happy to have you on-board. :)

Here on RO you will find both novice and professional members who are passionate about all things studio - from mics, preamps, outboard processors and consoles, to DAW programs and function, MIDI, plugin processors, monitors, and even acoustics** (please see below).

You may be here because you are just as passionate about audio, and would simply like to read posts and share your thoughts on the craft. Or, perhaps you were brought here as the result of an internet search for an audio problem you are having, or, maybe you heard about us from someone else - in any regard, we are here to help, and we are glad to help.

Many of the members here on RO are professionals in the craft of audio production, some with up to 40 years of experience in the field, and they give of themselves freely here on this forum. They aren't paid money, or compensated in any way. They offer their time, knowledge and experience, free and unselfishly, all with the sole motivation of helping others.

Very often, however, new members will post a question or a problem scenario, seeking help and advice, and then, after help and advice is given to them by veteran members here, the new members don't ever get back to us to let us know how things worked out.

We are asking new members who have been helped here to please be courteous enough to reply and let us know how your situation resulted. The reason we appreciate a response is because the problem you are having might be similar to a problem that someone else is having, and the answers we give you might also be of help to others...so please be kind enough to let us know. (An occasional "thank you" is also appreciated).

Some further notes, but very important - PLEASE continue reading:

** The Acoustics Section has its own specific TOS guidelines for posting, please abide by them:

http://recording.org/index.php?threads/read-this-before-you-post.26684/

Do NOT try to assist in acoustics-related issues unless you are a professional.

Acoustics is not "guesswork", it's a science, and far too much incorrect information regarding this subject has already been posted all over the internet; please don't propagate that further - let our resident experts handle all acoustics queries.

It's simple: If you aren't a pro, you don't know.

If you are posting a song for critique, in either the Track Talk or Song Collaboration Forums, please follow these TOS Guidelines:
http://recording.org/index.php?threads/please-read-before-you-post.57560/

When posting for help in all other areas, please be as specific as possible in regard to the issue(s) you are facing.

If it's a computer/software issue, please provide specifics about your computer; DAW platform (and version), age, CPU Specs, RAM, HDD, OS, etc.

If it's a hardware issue, please provide as much detail as possible about your gear; manufacturer, model, any modifications, and connection methods (the way you have the gear routed in your workflow, includes details like USB (2 or 3), FW (400, 800), PCIe, cabling, any adapters used, driver/firmware versions, etc.)

Tell us your budget - and please refrain from saying "I have $50 to spend and I want a pro sound." It ain't gonna happen.

Tell us your location - this can help us to determine what may - or may not be - available to you, along with prices.

Also, it really helps us to know what your own general knowledge and experience level is; if you are new to computers, or audio production in general, please tell us.

Moreover, if you are a veteran engineer, and seeking advice from professional peers, please tell us that, too. If you feel that you have sufficient knowledge in a certain area and can help someone, please do.

Welcome to RO. We're happy to have you. :)
