Hello there,

Does anyone know whether recordings can be found on the market that only contain the instrumental parts of famous songs (e.g. Beatles), to which one can sing along (karaoke)?

Obviously, one can try and filter out the voice in the original songs themselves, but this often would not leave a very good result.

Also, there are of course free MIDI renditions of those songs available, where you can easily mute the vocals, leaving you only with the instruments. However I would prefer to have real instruments play in the background rather than MIDI instruments.

I would much appreciate any suggestion that could put me on the right track!

The karaoke CDs are special in that they include the text that is displayed on a karaoke screen. If you don't have a karaoke machine, there is some free software out on the internet that you can use to play back the CDs through that will display the lyrics on your computer monitor.

My dad got into this and would sing every Tuesday night at his Elks Lodge but he wanted to practice at home. He didn't want to buy a karaoke machine so I had to set it up on his computer. The free stuff that I found was a little quirky but it worked.
