Can anybody give me any advise on getting a soundcard...Right now I have a SBlive and I want to upgrade to a professional card.
I will mainly be doing audio recording.

Well...what applications are you going to be recording? All analog or digital? How many inputs and what type of interfaces are going to be recorded?
You posted a very general question so I cant really give you a detailed response. There are several cards out there right now but which one is good for you I dont know.

Well, I am going to be recording(2 synths, bass, drums(electric, but everything goes to separate channels,like an acoustic drum), timbales, congas, guiro(percussion instrument used for Merengue), and vocals) so as you can see I could go all audio but I could also go Midi and audio... I am going to be using Nuendo to record all the tracks(from my analog mixer outputs to the computer soundcard inputs)
I need a quality sound card(money is no object) :D

Good choice on software my friend!! Nuendo is top notch indeed!! Well...if you are going to do multiple inputs then you might want to think about the MOTU products..if you aren't going digital then go with the MOTU 24i..24 inputs of analog ins..good dynamic range and plus with one PCI card you can put three of them to get 72 ins at once. They input via a firewire cable which they call an audio wire..
Or you could go with the Echo cards but that involves multiple PCI cards for each hardware interface and the ability to use all the cards in one program due to it's control panel being able to control all cards in one software! but the problem with multiple PCI cards is IRQ issues..pain but Echo cards are great indeed.
Also the RME stuff is nice and making serious waves these days with many DAW users. the 9652 card which has 56 channels of optical IO in conjunction with the 8io box which is an analog breakout box that sends the information via lightpipe to the main PCI card..amazing sounding converters as well as very low latency.
Also what OS are you going to be using? Win98/ME or Win2k?

Yes Steinberg is offering the bundled package deal with the RME 96/52 card..which is only optical ins...it has 24 channels of lightpipe in with a SPDIF in as well..you can chain another card to it to get 52 channels of input.thus it would be 48 channels of lightpipe and 4 channels of SPDIF(Two Stereo ins)
The good thing about RME is the ability to do 96Khz sampling rate where MOTU still is only 48..unless you go with the 12/96 card..12 ins and outs with AES availability as well.

Hey Opus
Nah it wasn't the sync it was the midi timing in particular. I had Cubase V4 for mac and it really sucked big time... Is this still the case?
