Hello--I recently picked up a Mac mini G4, and I want to try recording with GarageBand (first, and go from there). Never done any kind of computer-based recording before (though I have done recording in pro studio with ADATs).

What does it mean when your solo or i think mute button is faded out? i know that the track won't act the right way, but anyone? o, and how does it happen?

Im trying to set up my laptop to use two different audio interfaces simultaniously.

One of them is a M-Audio Mobile USB.. and the other is a Hercules 16/12 FIREWIRE>.. The main problem is that Cubase won't let me use two drivers at once.. soo it cannot reckonize them both..

Is this possible to make it work?

I have some compositions just about completed in fruityloops. My problem is that some of the instances of minimoog won't allow me to turn up the volume. I have minimoog running as a DXi plugin and when i open it from fruityloops the volume is way to low. I can turn it up and save it in on the minimoog but it goes back down as soon as i press play in fruityloops.

Does anyone know of a 1HE 19" rack mixer that has the same connectivity as the Behringer UB-802? I use it for personal monitoring. The signals it should handle are:

Just wondering what the rule of thumb is for a safe distance to run RCA cables between my equipment?

In the end I suppose all that matters is if you can hear any hum or ground loop stuff audibly, right?

I have to hook up cables (RCA) between my deck, my computers, and my mixer. Each run will be anywhere from about six feet to as much as about twelve feet.

Okay, now that I'm re-familiarizing myself with my new (eBay new that is) Pioneer RT-909 and loving it, one thing that's great about this R2R is when I've got it in pause mode and if I hand-turn the reels forward or back I can still hear the sound on the tape when I'm monitoring the tape (i.e., having the source button toggled to tape vs source).

I've been digging through the forums for some ideas on monitoring for recordings and mixes.
