Is it ok to normalize a track if the recorded (vocal) material only reaches -18 db at max?

I really don't do much on the recording end but I've just encountered this.

I am using a TAC Scorpion 24x16 and phantom power went south. it's not the fuse (damn it).
dose anyone have any insights as to where i might look or whom i might talk to?

Going for a RnR type vibe for a friends song that he sung here and we pitched in with some instruments.

What do you think ?, I cant get the guitars to be as crisp as I want because there is too much hiss,
eventhough I tryed to get a decent gain structure and EQ on the way in :mad:

This is the first mix of The Minstrel and Marie. First full recording in the new studio. The 12 string acoustic was recorded with a pair of mics into the Focusrite octopre mk2 dynamic, vocals into PreSonus RC-500. All comments welcome including, give up, you're wasting your time, sell all your gear now :D.

I've included a link to an acoustic guitar being recorded through a Prism Sound Orpheus. The stock pres were also used, along with a Neumann U87 mic.

There are no effects or EQ. The file is completely raw from that perspective.

Personally, I consider it to be a musical - and production - masterpiece.

I'm not even that big of a Beach Boys fan, really... but this album was so amazing - in performances, engineering and production... and I still think it's amazing.

It's been a long time. Life sometimes throws you a curve ball and you have to jump way out of the field to catch it. At any rate, got this in the inbox the other day. It looks like Universal Audio's Apollo is going to get a run for their money. Not to mention Avid's interfaces. It seems to me that Waves are set to take over the interface/integrated dsp market.

So me and the guys in my band were just messing around and recorded this quickly. It was just for a laugh and it's nothing serious and pretty much every aspect of it has been rushed but we did it as a thank you for people attending our album launch. We um... re-wrote it except for the lyrical content.
