mixing question 2

When I play in position 1 on my guitar, voice and guitar occupy a lot of the same frequencies.

With just voice and guitar in the mix, what would you be doing with the EQ? I'm okay EQing the tracks individually, but I'm wondering about them together. Do guitar and voice typically fight each other frequency-wise? What to listen for?

Mixing to CDR or CDR/W

Is there a sonic difference mixing to CDR/W as opposed to CDR? I like the idea of being able to fix false starts or start/stop times, or making alternate mixes then copy from CDR/W to CDR as a final mix.Would this be an acceptable way to do it, or would I be better off going directly to CDR?
Thanks in advance,
Luke

Quality of Carvin mixing consoles?

Does anyone have experience with Carvin mixing consoles? A band I work with is looking into a new board and it seems Carvin offers some very nice boards for several hundred $$ less than Mackies / Soundcraft / Alesis etc...

So are you saving money because you are buying direct or is the quality less than ideal? Anyone here know?

Thanks!
