LA service for old JH-16?
well, there's a guy who seems fairly desperate to offload a '76 JH16 with a JH114 transport, auto locator II, a couple extension cards blahblah...he seems pretty up front that it's a fixer upper, but not a parts machine supposedly. heads are 30-40% and the erase head is no go on ch.4, most of the lights are out etcetc...

FAEFLORA:Lead Free Solder & Quad CablingXXX
Anybody done testing on Lead Free Solder? Kester makes 95%Tin5%Silver (mostly for potable water sources). Only other Silver I've found is RadioShack 2% Silver, rest lead and tin.

SM57 always gets honorable mention..
SM57 always gets honorable mention..
So what’s the deal with this mic? Why does it always get mentioned with such praise? I was just curious because I bought one about 14 years ago (and still have it). I don’t recall what I paid for it but I don’t think it was all that expensive.

right hand gear pieces
for those who freelance, we all build our own stashes of gear - choice investements since facilites have the main tools to work with, yet could one be comfortable enough to go in and use all the tools given to you to get the sounds in your head?

a quick Spider question...
it's a bit unclear from the Crane Song website, so i'm curious if the currently shipping unit has:
a) 96k capability for all dig. outputs...and
b) the headphone jack?
. and if not... as a guestimate, could one expect them before, say, xmas?

What is required for VST support?
I am seriously considering making an audio app. I would like it to have VST support. Is this truly an open format? Do you have to pay the Borg ( steinberg )?
I see Logic and SAW having VST, wish vegas and Samplitude had it.

Reason Junkies?
I'd like a show of hands as to how many people are using Reason...Why do you use it? How do you use it? What do you like most about it? What is you favorite trick that you do with it? For example..triggering multiple devices with other devices and so forth. I think this would be a cool discussion to see what possibilities there are and also to give other people ideas as to what to do with it.

Wire Strippers
Yes I know this is a menial little question. I really hope someone answers it though :( .
I'm teaching myself how to build cable. I bought 1500 feet of Canare L-4E5AT foil shield mini star-quad. My current pair of wire strippers severs the wire strands or hacks the wire in two.
