Master Mix on Fostex Digital 8 track

Any Fostex users out there? I forget my model number - 8 track recorder (4 tracks at a time) with CD burner. I'm seeking advice regarding the order in which the tracks should be recorded and how they should be mixed. I have some M Audio speakers - which tend to sound "muddy". I'll get a mix that sounds good in the headphones only to have it sound like crap through the speakers.

Tascam Portastudio 414 8 track problem

Hi guys,

For some reason track 1 is giving me allot of distortion. Has the volume pegged pretty much. I tried cleaning the tape head, but it didn't work. Also there does not need to be a tape for there to be distortion. If I just hit play without any tape I get the same thing. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello, I recently acquired two 1/2", 8 track machines - a Tascam TSR-8 and a Tascam 38. Both are in very good condition.

I own a de-magnetizer and I know the heads will have to be de-magnetized occasionally as well as cleaning of the metal and rubber moving parts in the tape path.

Which 8 track should I get?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and to the world of home recording in general.

I 'm looking to get an 8 track recorder.I'm a song writer and have been in a band for years.

The main purpose of it would be make demos of songs as I write them.

The ones I've come across and am interested in are - Korg D888, Tascam DP-02, Fostex MR-8 HD/CD.
