Audio-Technica AT2020: Help with too much background noise

Audio-Technica AT2020
Help with too much background noise

So i’m using my microphone for live streaming games and lets plays and youtube

I may have made a mistake in buying a Audio-Technica AT2020 USB a while back ,

it picks up WAY TOO much background noise.

A tiny soft bird tweets in the background. The mike picks that up Including the other background noise i don’t want.

I’m using Windows 7 and Abeltone Live

AT2020 "Renowned" mic? Really?

I normally don't go out of my way to say anything negative about retailers... If I see something that is priced too high, I figure the best line of defense is to simply not purchase anything from them...

But this one? This one I couldn't help commenting on - and it's from a supplier that I would normally respect, and who usually carries some pretty cool gear, both used and new; but after seeing this, I'm now beginning to wonder what other gear that they sell is also inflated in price:

samson CO3 / Audio-Technica at2020 / RØDE NT1

I've been looking at these 3, they're at different prices here in Argentina. which one should I go for?

the aI'm is to record mainly all-round vocals and an ocassional acoustic guitar in my home studio. I've got a Mackie vlz-403 mixer with very good mic preamps and phantom.

any ideas? cheers!

Using a line 6 KB37 (gearbox) and AT2020 mics?

Im going to take my first stab at recording vocals and I've gone through all the tips and stuff which were great but I was wondering how you guys would go about using this stuff, Im going for clean but hard rock vocals. Here's some sample music Ill be recording vocals for:

Ill be recording in the closet too since I cant sing very well... hahaha
