explaining PCIe slots, compatibility & bandwidth?
If you were wondering about PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 -
Some slots are longer than others, what this all about?
examples:
PCIe 3.0/2.0 x 16
PCIe 2.0 x 16

Bandwidth
Technically the term refers to the width of the range of frequencies that any digital or analog signal occupies on a given transmission medium. Audio bandwidth is generally given as 20 Hz to 20kHz, although there are harmonic components in audio that extend far above the 20k point. Generally, when presented as a specification, the wider the frequency response the better.

Bandwidth limiting in Mastering?
hello...
Released my ex-band's CD in 2006; & at that time, my vehicle only had a Cassette player. So I dubbed the music down to cassette for playback in that vehicle...& it sounded GREAT...I mean, really clear, detailed & punchy.

PCI Bandwidth Limitations
Well I have been steadily beefing up my PT LE DAW over the last year or so and I have pretty good set up. I recently purchased a Wave APA44 and I am running UAD cards as well. I am currently run everything off of a Carillon P4 3.2GHZ w/ 1GB of RAM

Do Firewire hubs reduce bandwidth?
This question seems like it ought to have a simple answer, but I've had difficulty finding one.
If you connect a firewire hub to a firewire port on your computer, and then connect two firewire devices to the firewire hub, does that mean each device may only utilize 1/2 the bandwidth through the computer's firewire port?

Bandwidth of My Raw Drum Tracks Seems Narrow
Hi there,
This happens to me over and over...I tune and mic up my kit as best I can, but the raw tracks in their relative balance seem very puny(lacking top and bottom) compared to the sound of my raw guitar amp(Les Paul/Mesa Tremoverb/SM57) and P- bass DI tracks.
The latter instruments come across much richer and louder than the drum tracks for a given peak meter reading.
Riser Cards -- Do they effect PCI bandwidth?
I am trying to get a portable live setup and I am considering using a 2U racked PC but it will require that I use a riser card for my soundcard. This sounds like a bad idea. Can someone explain what a riser card does and whether or not it effects performance?
