Books on Recording (especialy the Tracking Stage)

hello anyone here can point me to good reference books on recording? (TRACKING) especially...i started reading bob katz book on mastering but its more mastering oriented! I'm really searching for something that would tell me a lot about Gain staging and basic tracking, avoid clipping, how hot my signals should be and stuff like that.

Books for Rhythms . any suggestions?

I'm looking for books that have multi-layered percussion instrument rhythms. The book I'm thinking of would have each instrument's part written out with suggestions on what combinations of instruments and/or rhythms work together to produce a "feel". There might be a section for Latin, African, Carribean or other ethnic styles.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Laptops..notebooks...for heavyduty Audio production!

Hey ppl,
This topic may have been posted many times on the forums but Im still confused about choosing a good laptop for myself for Audio production since i get mixed opinions... I would like to get more opinions now...
The main production softwares I use are CubaseSX, Reason 2.5 and Abelton Live 4.0. I usualy Rewire them for most of my productions.

what are your favorite books on the topic?

i'm looking for some good books that will have comprehensive information to help get me going with recording, and some that will be good references to keep handy in the studio in the future, even after i've gotten a hang of the basics, to help with questions and problems that might pop up so i don't have to hekcle you guys here every time i can't figure something out.
