RODE ntk. a good all around budget mic?
I'm looking for a mic in the 500 dollar range that will be nice for recording a variety of things; namely vocals (male and female) and acoustic violin. The RODE NTK mic seems like a nice choice. I have yet to listen to it, but I know many of you either own one or have used one.

Low budget mic packages vs. . a few good mics
Hi,
Still on the low budget drum microphone quest. I would be happy enough with just a 4 mic setup - 2 OH's a bass and snare mic for live playing and practice recordings. I've narrowed it down to the following 3 choices. Prices including tax:
- Superlux 5 pack DRK-A3C2 :
bass,snare, 2 OHs and 1 tom plus 5 XLR cables & 1 clip for $424 Can
budget mic recommendations
Kurt,
I read with interest your 'sticky' (sounds rude!) in the Recording Studio thread concerning 'studio standard' mics. Although I am sure there is a lot of good advice there I was wondering if you could do a similar list for those of us on a tight budget.

Budget Mic Shopping?
I was at one of my local dealers today having a bit of a shop around for some Mics that would not break the bank. I wanted to find a few different Mics for different situations but I realy am on a tight budget. I have to be so tight infact, that when I fart only Dogs will be able to hear it ! This is what we came up with. Prices are un-negotiated at this point.

Mikes with the 1/4" adapter?
I'm a lo-fi nut, I use primarily vintage 2 track reel 2 reels and I use a Tascam porta7 4-trach recorder. I use the best quality tape possible but am in the dark as far as finding a proper microphone for capturing that "vintage" tone.
