Help choosing Hard Drives.. ata133 or 8mb buffer?

I just got the asus p4b533 with the built-in promise raid 133. I am going to run two hard drives for audio on the raid.

should i go for the maxtor 80 gigs which run at ata133, or the western digital 80 gig which only runs at ata100, but has the 8mb buffer?

Would the bigger buffer give me more performance? or the true ata133 speed of the maxtor?

Adjust buffer settings to avoid pops/clicks?

Sorry about the duplication (posted on eMagic as well) but I need some help...

I'm running a PC based MOTU 828 w/ Logic Plat software and I keep getting pops and clicks during playback and bounce-down. I have heard adjusting the buffer settings may stop this. What do I set them to? This is driving me nuts... :(

Thanks for the help.

VU meters & buffer amps?

Can anyone recommend a good resource on the need to provide buffer amps (or "make-up gain") when connecting a VU meter somewhere along an audio signal path? To the ignorant among us (me), it all seems so arbitrary; in some cases a VU meter appears to be just hung off existing circuitry. In other cases, a single VU meter is fed by a huge "buffer amp module" that serves no other purpose.

Disk Buffer and memory

I tend to use up to 16 tracks max in my compositions in Cubase 5 on a Mac.I have 256 megs of Ram, 210 given to Cubase. I try to be very frugal with the use of plugins I tend to use just EQ and compression and a bit of reverb and that's about it. Do you have any recommendations on how to set my disk buffers and memory in the setup/system
window?
