SATA HD Buffer Crackles

Hi all,
Just bought a Seagate Barracuda 200 GB SATA to replace a dead ATA. Managed to salvage my audio thankfully.

Got artefacts in the recorded tracks when using it with CubaseSX. Loud regular crackles whose period varies with the buffer size. i.e at 32k it crackles twice a second (ish) and at 256k it crackles about once every two seconds.

Buffering Setting for Live Recording-Cubase LE

hihi..every'buddy'
i'm facing a problem here.
i'm doing 8 track live recording with Cubase LE + Firepod on PowerBook G4 Tiger full upgrade!
Beginning of recording very smooth and pretty...but after a several minutes...i get a Noise...dirty Noise...which always appear when sound was recoreded...and disappear when no sound was recoreded!

audio interfaces and buffers?

How come the digi002 only goes up to about 1000 samples and my soundcard which is a peice of crap supports much much much more samples for playback? I cant even play back some songs with not that many tracks because of it.

what smaller audio interfaces have a good buffer size?

or do I need a soundcard for a good buffer size?

Guitar Impedance Loading/Buffering etc for Pedalboards

I had a most disturbing revelation today. My guitar tone sounded kind of wooly and lacked the dynamics that it used to, so I thought to myself "new strings"? But.. just to be safe, I tried unplugging from my pedalboard and straight into the amp. Lo and behold, the sound was brighter, LOUDER, and had a much greater dynamic range. I'm trying to figure out why this is...

Sequoia and Lost ASIO buffers

I know this is a bit OT in the acoustic RO forum, but its still related to acoustic music.
(And I did not get any reults searching RO)

I've been tracking opera this week and running a back up system with a RME Multiface conected to a HP powerbook through the RME cardbus interface. the PC running Win XP pro and Sequoia 7.22 (recording 4 stereo tracks at 24/44.1).

Adjusting the buffers in your DAW's audio engine

What advantage do you get from increasing or decreasing the buffers for a DAW's audio engine? I know too much will hog your resources and too little will cause hickups and other unwanted artifacts. Is this an issue with some or all DAW programs? I'm just curious about how some of you handle this delima as well as what's your secret remedy for this?
