Can I make a cheap, directly recorded bass thicker?

I'm using a Tascam US-122 with an old Ibanez bass. I've been running the bass through a Hughes and Kettner Tubeman 2 preamp and then into my US-122. I realize that the gear is waaaay cheap, but is there anything that I can do to give the bass a thicker tone (the cheapest way possible)?

Thanks.

Cheap Fixup Strategy Needed

Colleagues,

After a 3 year hiatus, 2 moves and a couple years in non-climate controlled storage, my studio is getting reinstalled. The casualties from the aforementioned abuse is not as bad as feared. The only pieces that are toast are my two old Mac Classic IIs, which I used to run MOTU Performer (Hey, they did the trick!).

Neve *CHEAP*

I'm not sure if this console would be very applicable in the studio setting, but it seems extremely cheap ($5200) for 24 channels of Neve preamps, EQs, and Compressors. I don't know which model preamps it has (broadcast console) and since I don't have the cash to buy it, I don't feel the need ot look into it further. Just thought one of you may be interested.

Mic cables, cheap vs expensive

Forums

I currently use the cheapest mic cables that I could find. I have a Great River pre and a Audio-Technica 4050 mic but am using radio shack mic cables. Would I notice an improvement in sound quality if I were to use better mic cables for instance Mogami gold series. I realize more expensive mic cables would be of better quality but do they provide any additional benefits?

if this is true...Will PT HD1/2 get cheaper?

Will they drop PT HD1, HD2 OF prices?

"The ACCEL card appears to be a super dsp card replacement for the HD Process card. The new card is twice as powerful - but has a list price only $500 higher. HD2 and HD3 ACCEL systems will include the new card instead of the Process cards previously shipped with these systems. The other news is that ACCEL is shipping immediately."
