Hiss from live concert halls

I'm wondering if there is any way to eliminate the high-freq hiss that is picked up when recording in live concert halls. There may be no way considering my set-up: 2 dynamic cardiod mics placed X stereo running into a Boss Br-864 (portable digital 8track recorder). I currently use the "hiss reduction" function in Adobe Audition to eliminate most of it...

Edits to a concert recording

I've got something coming up where we will record a concert (string quartet) and then they want to do a session in the same venue immediately afterward to get alternate takes for any problem areas. Recording location is a church, but not one I have been in before so no knowledge of the details yet. (The recording is in early February, so I have time to check it out.)

Recording HS Marching/Concert Band

My daughter volunteered me to record the local HS marching band. (She's drum major.) They were only looking for a CD to practice marching to, so it was a rush job. I recorded them in their practice room which has surprisingly good acoustics. (At least I was surprised.) Never done this kind of thing before, and I don't have the worlds greatest equipment for it.

Unusual Set-up for Bach Cantata Concert

A few weeks ago, I wrote about Bach cantata concerts where the choir stands in front of the orchestra, completely blocking the instrumentalists from sight and sound. Using my limited and budget-priced microphone collection, I decided to supplement the main pair by sneaking a pair of microphones in front of the conductor’s music stand – an unusual set-up but no one objected.
