hello,

I try to make music with synths and romplers but everything gets very confused. I try to raise the volume to distinguish sounds but everything gets even more mangled.
What should I do to avoid this?

Hey, I'm using garageband and a Behringer mixer. I'm recording direct through the rca cables through the input and output. THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS. I'm playing through my monitors, and it sounds f**king beautiful. then I hit record, still sounds good. DONE.

My speakers are damaged, and I want to know why. Here's the situation:

-Berhigner (sp) EP2500 amp (rated "2x1200 W @ 2 ohms, 2400 W @ 4 ohms mono bridged)

-2 Harbinger Dual 15" speakers, each 600 W, 4 ohms

-Usually we also hook up several 150 W monitors. Not sure on impedence

Ok, I'm really confused about mixers and was wondering if someone can tell me roughly what each different type of mixer does and differences between them (e.g. usb, firewire, analog etc). Some mixers only come out as one or two tracks in a DAW like logic so what the point in them?

I've read lots of articles, and I've been recording vocals a little bit, on and off for a year or two now, but I've just been winging it. This is one aspect that is still confusing to me.

My set up: Cubase LE; PreSonus Firebox, Shure sm57 or sm58.

I have some experience recording onto my 16 track Fostex VF 160 EX, and mixing and mastering using Adobe Audition, but aside from that am inexperienced with digital recording. I just ordered a Roland GR 33 guitar synthesizer system, to use with my synth access guitar, and want to use this to record straight onto my PC.

Ok, I'm just trying to figure out what the best overall routing scheme for my studio is. It's just getting a bit overwhelming now that I am about to record entire bands at once. Here's the basics of what I have going on.

Firstly I'd like to mention that I am planning to use the microphones as overheads.
Ok I have narrowed down my choices to these, in order of price.

AT 4041
AT 4051
AKG 451
KM 184

Why is it when I look at pictures of radio hosts such as Alex Jones, or Don Imus, to name a few. They either don't have a circular windguard, or a foam cover. They are just speaking directly into the mic. I thought if you do this you get the bad S's and P's.

And if they are using a windguard in studio they are using the foam cover, I thought those are for outside work.

I have a problem understanding where to set my levels when I track an instrument. Here is my setup:

Instrument > to cheap Behringer mixer > seasound soloist > Sonar

I don't know where to go as high as I can without peaking, and where to leave headroom?
