Decay time

The decay of a note, or instrument, is the process whereby the note. having been struck, fades out. This can be a slow, gradual process, which would mean there would be a long decay time involved, or it can be very brief.

anyone have to buy new hi-hats, or any cymbal for that matter, because of the 'ring' and decay time. a big problem of mine is my hats are sounding 'trashy' and 'ringy' but i think the other cymbals sound pretty good...so i decided to investigating on the hats I'm using...i hear the hats I'm using (sabian 13' AAX stage hats) are meant to be, well for Stage performance, as the name suggests.
