Hi, can someone please point me to a nice step by step tutorial on comping multitrack drums in Pro Tools? I'm a master in Logic, but pretty much a retard in Pro Tools. I've tracked 12 takes of drums one over top the other. All of the takes are nicely filed over in the region list. Now I want to audition each one and pick the best parts. Then edit them all together to form one brilliant take.
Can anyone speak to the ease/quality/pros/cons of using something like BFD or DFH via a keyboard controller versus a trigger kit like the Roland V-Drum?
I'd like to get some drums rolling (no pun intended) in my recordings and don't really feel like going the route of depending on loops or the manipulation thereof.
Next weekend my band wants to do some rough recordings of our songs so we can start pre-production on them. Of course drums will be first, and to a click but I have some questions about recording them into my mbox2.
And if so, what are your opinions on it? Could you recommend other drum loop libraries that are strictly loops?

I've been experimenting for several years now, and without making this a thread of "boost this and cut that", "use this not that". I was wondering if there is a useful reference (book, CD, etc) for drum eq/compression/gate/etc available (in addition to my ears and creative experimentation).

Hey, I've just bought my Tascam 2488 MKII and a whole heap of mics.
I'm new to recording and wanted to know if there are any tips (which I'm sure there are) on recording drums.
My kit is;
22" Kick drum, Miced with a AKG
14" Snare drum, Miced with a Shure SM57
10" and 12" Toms, Using one Mic for the both
Anybody got any suggestions to where I can find some really good virtual hip hop drums?
So we have about 2 condensers and 1 sm57 for my snare. Ad we have about 8 vocal mics. Is there any easy way to record drums with vocal mics?
