I have a couple simple questions I have never gotten a good response on...

1. Should I normalize tracks after I record them. Back in the day I normalized everything and I think I got some pretty good results. I have heard that normalization can introduce unwanted noise, but personally haven't run into that situation yet. If not, when should you normalize?

Hi, I keep reading articles about narrowing the Q and sweeping the frequencies to find the problem frequency.

Can anyone please tell me what the physical act of sweeping the frequencies is please, is it actually tweaking the Frequency knob up and down and if it is, what exactly should I be listening for?

What is the most important thing a newbie needs to do / learn to get them off to a good start?

Ive thought about this for quite a while now and thought well i,ll put this question out to all and see if anyone can answer me in a constructive fashion

My problem is i want a studio where i can work in for my private work and on the ocassion invite bands down to record there that is bands that i know.

What sounds better:"The same sample of,lets say,
bass guitar played from EmuE4Platinum or played from Halion or GigaStudio on computer with Motu2408?
I know that there is differences between Emus and Akais samplers in alogorithm,but I wonder are the software samplers enough good in producing sound as they are hardware samplers.

Due to fate, I inherited a new computer as a replacement for my machine. My machine is 4 years old and it is at wit's end doing some of the more advanced stuff I want to do so the new one should be about 7X more powerful in all catagories.
