What are some common Micing techniques to achieve the thick 70s funk drum sound?

Hi, everyone.
I just finish another project.
They are rookie and on exprience in recording studio
It's very hard to record.

Does anybody know of any funk web sites/forums that discuss different drum Micing recording techniques (close miking) and instrument recording for recording a funk band. or of anyone has any tips tricks to achive this sound. Im am especially looking at the sound that the JB's achieved in the 70's
