I'm a bit of a techno-phobe but am trying to get started with some basic recording...
I just installed a Tapco Link.usb and it came bundled with Tracktion 2 software. When I open Tracktion 2, I get the error message "Error opening audio device, error setting up audio output pin." I'm unable to get any sound or reaction out of Tracktion.
It looks like Tracktion recognizes the Link.usb since it appears in a drop down box.
To complicate the question, I also have Reaper installed but it seemed very tech heavy and I need to keep things simple.
Any suggestions for getting my Link.usb to work with Tracktion2?

Ok first thing. Unplug any USB devices not pertinent to recording when you want to record. Second, left click Start->right click Computer and select properties. Left click on Device Manager (left column). Look for your Tapco mixer and see if it has any red X or error message. It might be that it isn't completely installed correctly. Also in the Device Manager at the top, click View and select Show Hidden Devices. Look for something under "non plug and play devices" (I think) called Mackie Subunit or some garbage like that. I'm traveling so I don't have any Mackie gear to plug in to verify. Anyway, this is the bit that actually interfaces with the Windows sound in Vista and Win7. You may have to manually install the driver as Windows says it doesn't need one. Right click and select update driver.

-Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
-Click "Have Disk" and browse to whatever folder you dowloaded the Tapco drivers to.
I believe it is the Subunit or alternatively labeled A/C non plug & play driver that is the problem.
Get back with me if this doesn't help. The Tapco will work with any DAW.
