Cleaning up my recorded guitar sounds on Sonar 8.5
Whats the "best" VST plugin to use to clean up my guitar sounds, recorded naturally with an SM57 from a live amp.
i'm using cakewalk Sonar 8.5 but i haven't tried mixing my guitar sounds yet. I have guitar rig, but would you say this was the one to use
big guitar sounds like metallica
Metallica was king of big guitar sounds. They were the first to make it sound REALLY BIG! They used like 8 marshall 4x12, with various mics and a huge tent cover to enclose the sound. The guitar sound you hear on the black album is clean, crisp and dint require a whole lot of dubbing.

Very confused with Guitar Sounds
Hey, i've been recording for about a year now, so i'm still learning a lot everyday. I invested a lot of money last year for high quality equipment (I am going to college next year for sound engineering) to get started early and to record my band. I've been getting great quality drum tracks and sweet vocal sounds, but I just cannot get any decent guitar sounds.

Trying to get good guitar sounds (Arent we all!)
Ok here it is, I have a Marshall AVT150 hiding under my desk and am trying to get some good guitar sounds via Micing it up with an SM57 (The only other Mic I have is an SM58 for vocals!).
my crappy guitar sounds! HELP!
when ever i record my amp when it's distorted is sounds REALLY harsh. i dont know why...but it may be cause by set up.
for starters I'm using Shure pg-48 to mic my amp, which isent the best mic for recording instruments.
then that goes straight into my echo mona to my pc.
I NEED HELP!

Poor quality guitar sounds
I'm pretty new to all this recording business and I'm having problems recording a decent electric guitar sound.
I'm running a cheapish (£90) Stagg MCO 5BK through a Tascam USB 122 into my Laptop but the recordings sound very distant and flat and lack any real punch. It's especially bad if I'm using distortion. Single clean notes aren't too bad but anything else is nasty.

Getting pro-quality guitar sounds
What am I missing? Right now I'm using Vintech X73i's a UA 1176 and a Distressor into a Rosetta 800 into my Digidesign 002. So far I've only really done acoustic guitar, room mics, and direct bass with good results.

Used/ Underoath Guitar Sounds.
I know Quinn from the Used uses a modeling head live, but does anyone know how to replicate that killer distorted tone in the studio. Im beginning to think it must be a model of some sort, because ive used a Marshall JCM 2000, JCM 900, Dual Rectifier, Maverick, and Recto-verb and no matter the mics or pres i cant get that clear dark distorted sound.

Skid Row Guitar Sound - Slave to the Grind
Hi,
Im wondering whether anyone knows how Skid Row managed to get such an awesome "guitar" sound on the Slave to the Grind album... would anyone out there know what equipment they used on that album at the time? and how they went about recording guitars?
