Walls: Sound Isolation in Room with Foam Concrete Slab Insulation
I'm planning to sound-isolate an already-converted garage built on concrete slab. I want to modify the walls to have mass-air-mass with two layers of drywall inside and out.
Anyone familiar with "Eco-Core" acoustic insulation?
"...a blend of recycled cellulose, paper and cotton. This material has extremely comparable sound absorption at mid to high frequencies and superior absorption at low frequencies, when compare with traditional fiberglass based cores."
Sharing My Acoustic Treatment Build from Cubicle Wall Insulation!
This story is crazy and long, so I'm going to summarize it. Seven years ago I was able to recover some Owens Corning 703 from four cubicle walls that were stashed in a basement at an old factory job. OC-703 is the bomb for broadband absorbers, as we all know, so you know I was thrilled when my boss said I could have them.
Air or Insulation in Walls
We're planning on building a house with a basement, to include a music room. I can’t "build a studio" as such, just hope to optimize construction for better isolation than what a basement would normally have. I won't be building a room within a room or anything that involved. I plan to present the builder with options for them to assess for cost and practicality. The diagram on p.

Airborne sound insulation - what do the numbers mean?
Hi
I'm doing some research on converting my garage/basement (the house is on a hill so the back wall of the garage is essentially underground) into a rehearsal/listening/recording room.
I've been looking at 3 different wall systems from British Gypsum
In-wall fiberglass insulation question
I am building a small scale studio in the near future. i will be building the stud framing out of 2" x 6"'s to add a bit more space for insulation to dampen the audio from both the inside and out. I am debating if I should use R-19 or R-24 fiberglass insulation for the in wall insulation. I would have gone with spray in, but it doesn't last that well over the long run.
