I have been building my own home studio. As such, I'm the main engineer/perfomer here, so I have to track while playing.

Do you guys think isolation headphones could help in setting stuff like mic placement, for example, when recording electric guitars and drums? Or a pair of good closed-back headphones would suffice?

I have this problem almost licked, except for one "fly in the ointment". I have succeeded in having the ablilty to record a vocal track into my DAW via a LD condenser and a Joemeek VC3Q, and simultaneously record direct to DAW with my Kurzweil synth/workstation.

I'm moving into a condo I just bought (yay!), and am trying to figure out what is going to happen to my home recording rig.

Anybody have any experiences? Are the converters decent? Is it stable? Any problems with it? Complaints? Praise?

Isolation transformers, has anyone tried using these things? Did it help? What type? THANX

I have a back room in my studio that is used as a gear docking area or back the van into etc to unload gear. the walls around it are sound proofed. I want to use it to put another guitar cab in. I was thinking of just making a closet with 8" insulation on the top, 2 sides and bottom and just pointing the amp into it. Will this work or should I build a whole iso cab?
