Anybody who remembers that whole thread about John Bonham and why he was the greatest of the greatest will be happy to know that I finally watched the two DVD "How the West Was Won". My buddy Paul, bass player I played in two bands with, came over to help with the project at hand: watching five or six hours of live Led Zeppelin and drinking all the beer in the fridge (and most of the vodka).

I'm having an argument with my friend about this song. I say the whole song is acoustic, even the heavy crashing choruses. He says there is clean electric guitar in the chorus, possibly even distorted too.

What do you guys think? Is there any info on the net about what guitars were actually used on it, or the production techniques used or the making of any Led Zeppelin album

I was wondering what exactly the mic setup was for john bonham. I know that they used 3 mics. I think they used one out front, one behind him about shoulder high and one overhead? Is anyone familiar with this? And what kind of mics did they use?
