Hello all.

I recorded a live gig on a laptop using an echo indigo card with Tracktion to an external hard drive, which I believe is formated to FAT32 as opposed to the laptop - a windows XP machine.

Ok guys I need a little advice.

I was just hired to record a live Native American (politically correct) Pow Wow. (Don’t ask me how I got this job, as these guys are like 13 hours away from me)

I'm looking for the best and most affordable way to set up our church's sound system for live multitrack recording of the worship services.

While I've done a lot of live sound mixing for a lot of years, I'm relatively new to live recording. Here's a sample from a show I mixed and recorded last week.

I would appreciate any comments/criticisms of the recording and mixing. Gear used was by no means top of the line but I'd like to know if you guys think I'm on the right track here.

I like to tape gigs with a minidiscplayer (direct out from the mixer), mostly for documentation. However, I don't like the way the compressed minidiscsound is. I've looked at the Alesis Masterlink, and it has what I want, 24bit uncompressed recording.

I have agreed to set a full recording system for my children (Jazz, Classical and some pop/rock Music) but I need some help and comments in trying to determine the best approach and equipment.

I was for years into music recording (Neve, Cadac, SSL.. ) before moving into television so I am not quite up-to-date on all options available today.

I was wondering if any one can tell me if achieving a 48 track recording rig is possible with a laptop. I have seen many 24 track rigs but not a lot bigger. Iam open to any suggesttions I currently use DP 4.6 on a Mac 1.6 g4 powerbook with RME Fireface.

Hello all,

I am a member of a university choir in Sweden and also a member of the "recording group" of the choir. The recording group is going to buy new recording equipment to the choir and have finally almost made up its mind on what to buy. The only thing we are really unsure of are the mics.

A fair amount of my work is recording live concerts - usually acoustic music - not rockish things. I have a few SM58s - sometimes they do the job, sometimes they leave a lot to be desired.
