Connecting minidisc to a Scarlette optical out
Hi Guys, and thanks in advance for reading this!
MiniDisc
A format introduced several years ago by Sony that allows recording and playback of audio to and from a small magneto optical disc with a capacity of 140MB. To be able to record 74 minutes of music, the technology applies a data compression algorithm called ATRAC that compresses the data by about 5:1, but also permanently changes the file on decompression.

From minidisc to...
Hi I've had great results recording piano and classical chamber music with a Sony Hi-MD Minidisc recorder and some Core Sound binaural unpowered mics. However, the transfer rates are so slow from the MD to the computer and the whole technology just seems outdated in light of cheap flash based devices.

Recording with a Sony MZ-RH910 minidisc umm..recorder
Hello to all. I just bought a used Sony mz-rh910 minidisc recorder but, as it came from ebay, it came with little else but the unit and the seller's recorded disc, so I'm trying to figure out how to use it.
Minidisc mic for recording live music..which is better?
trying to decide which to go with for use with a minidisc recorder - the Sony electret condensor mic or ECM-MS907. The first is much smaller but not digital, which is appealing, but I'm wondering if it would record well. Thanks!
Does anyone know everything about MiniDisc recorders?
I have the RH910 Hi-MD recorder. I go to a certain concert each year and one of the band members just hooks his md up to the soundboard with a "Y" cable and then gives me the disc.
Sony TCD-D100 vs. . Minidisc vs. . Hard disk
Can anyone help.
I currently have a TCD-8 DAT walkman, which is sadly on its way out. Can anyone advise me on what I should get as a replacement. I need a small, compact recorder (non-timecode) that uses a format that is edit friendly.
Ive heard about the TCD-D100, but is it any good, and isn't DAT becoming an ancient format!

minidisc clipping
I use my mic mixer (Behringer UB1202) with my portable minidisc player (Sony MZ-N1) for recording. When Automatic Gain Control (AGC) is on, the levels on the UB1202 and the minidisc player seem to correspond well. When I turn AGC off (manual mode), the recording is totally clipped even though the level indicators on the UB1202 are green.
