Should a Neumann TLM 193 be this dark?
I owned this mic in 1998 for a while and bought one again in 2014. I always thought it was good, plus it allowed investment in Neumann technology, which was otherwise well outside my budget - and still is. However, I find it extremely dark on vox (and instruments) and am certain a mic of this accuracy and calibre shouldn't be.

MKH40 vs. . TLM193
Howdy,
Who here owns or makes frequent use of MKH40's ? What is your favorite application for them? I am wondering if they are ok for use as a main pair or at least for emphasizing a section or solist. How would you compare them to TLM193's in similar applications?
I'm curious to hear from folks who've used them extensively.
thanks,
-dave

Neumann TLM 193 ok for overheads?
I purchased a tlm193 and am happy with it.
Question:
it works for everything but i'm wondering:
for drumoverheads, would it be good to get a second one?
As it doesn't have -10Db and low cut.
alternatives?
thanks- Mcsim

Which mic would be better? Neumann TLM 103 or TLM193?
I hope I am asking in the right place, its been a while since I was here and its all changed!
Anyhoo..
As the title says, I am looking to get a new mic (well second-hand) and I am looking at both the Neumann TLM 103 and the TLM193.
Neumann TLM193 vs. . U87ai
Hi Fletcher, and everyone,
Anyone know what the differences are between these two mics?
I know the 193 is cardioid only and the U87 is multi.
What are the differences/similarities in design (I assume single v. dual diaphragm? capsule? electronics?) and sonic signature.
Thanks in advance...
geo
