Description

A preamplifier, also known as a preamp, is an electronic amplifier that converts a weak electrical signal into an output signal strong enough to be noise-tolerant and strong enough for further processing, or for sending to a power amplifier and a loudspeaker. Without this, the final signal would be noisy or distorted.

Aphex, focusrite, PreSonus or ART Preamps?

Hi guys!
I've been looking for some decent quality preamps vs price.
I'm ready to spend 600.00$ for a TWO channel preamps and i have in mind the APHEX 207, but was not able to find some reviews.
ART: the vendor at the music store in town told me that his first choices on that range would be the ART Gold. Personnally i own a MP and not satisfied.

Preamps and Comps

Ive been listening to country music lately, and I must say,I really love the quality of the vocals .
My question is,what preamps, and comps are the high end studios using to get that real nice, thick, rich, round,up frt ?

Im in the process of getting rid of a lot of "rack-Crap",and saving my $$$ to get a Preampcompressor, that gives me that tone on Vocals 8-)

Preamps through preamps. What do you think?

So I've got a few outboard preamps. I'm thinking of getting the Digidesign 002 with built in pres into the console. Is there a problem with preamping my mic's through the outboard preamp and then sending that signal through the consoles preamp? Essentially double preamping. Anyone have an opinion... or fact?

4 very different stereo preamps needed

hi guys, i'm building a high end DAW and am looking for some varied pres to cover me for a wide range of sounds. so far i'm considering the Avalon ad2022, the chandler tg2, a couple of v72s and possibly something by neve. i'm curious about my other options though...what would you guys recomend?

preamps for noobies

I'm pretty new at this recording stuff, but I really want to get a halfway decent sounding home studio for rock n' roll going on at my place. I plan on purchasing a digi 002 soon. I have heard that the built in pre's are great on this, but i really don't understand anything about preamps at all. Could anyone give me some advice about this, and any advice that you may have for my studio?
