Confusion about hooking up signal processors.

I recently bought a bunch of things for my recording studio including, an antares avp-1, Focus rite ISA one, and an ART VLA II tube compressor. I have a 48 point patchbayin which I have the aux sends and returns from my Alesis multimix16 as well as the outs and ins from all above said unit connected to.

Recommend me a processor/mobo combo

I recently purchased an m-audio profire 2626. I'm going to be running it with Pro-tools 8 on my windows Vista (or XP, if that's better) . I got it all setup today but I think my processor is probably a bit too slow. I'm experiencing peaked-out processor with only a few tracks and a few basic plugins. Here are my system specs:

What do Eventide processors do?

THere seems to be so much hype, at least I hear it, about Eventide processors like the H8000. Can anyone with first hand experience chime in on why these are SO spectacular. It's not that I dont believe it, I just want to know. I know that they do intellegent harmonization and reverb. Are they also a full blown effects processor with chorus/flange/phasing effects and all that?

Which 2009 processor brand is better and why? AMD or INTEL?

Hi. I'm looking at putting together a Windows box. I've heard a rumor that VST's actually *LIKE* AMD processors.

Is this true?

If I were using VST's, would building an AMD box be a good start?

What are other advantages or disadvantages one would consider when constructing a new box for 2009.
