Sound Devices Mixpre-6 vs Tascam HS-P82 Little Test

Member for

Here is another test I did today to compare Sound Devices Mixpre-6 vs Tascam HS-P82.

It's not a strictly scientific test, but I think one can get the taste of how both recorders compare in sonic quality.
One of them is called Recorder_01, the other is Recorder_02, for obvious reasons.

The setup is as follows: I'm using on one channel a Neumann UMS69 with both capsulas facing forward 0° and in omni switch position; they are by definition matched.

How to connect sound devices 722 to F3 camera?

Member for

I'm still new to all this and want to learn more. I usually connect my Sound Devices 302 mixer into my Sound Devices 722 recorder for field recording during a university film shoot and then we slate it for manual syncing later on. But now I want to try connect my 722 to the camera as well so I will be recording sound into both the camera and 722. I have no idea how to connect the 722 into the Sony F3 camera we have at university. Can anyone suggest a way? We have XLR Loom cables as well so maybe that might help. But from what I can see, the 722 doesnt seem to have XLR outputs.

thoughts on the sound devices pre2

Hope this is the correct group to post this question to, but I'm in a bit of a bind. Just recently lost all my recording equipment (microtech gefell m200 pair into a Tascam hd-p2 oade mod), and i need to quickly replace it all. I bought my mics over a decade ago and love them, so i'm planning on replacing with as close a match as i can find and afford (my they are pricey),, I was planning on trying to spend a bit more on the mic pre with the hope i could go into a cheaper recorder than the Tascam hd-p2.

Sound Devices 722 Line Level inputs for External Pres?

Member for

I have a questions concerning Sound Devices 722. Apologies if this reveals an appallingly low level of technical knowledge.

Sometimes I use the analog inputs on the 722 line level with an external pre suich as the DAV BG 1 (yes it is a terrific pre, no doubt about it).

To what extent will the external pre be "coloured" by the 722 when used line at level?
