I just connected a new Apogee800 out (toslink) trhu optical MOTU in but in logic i can record every track with a very low input, do you know how to fix it? Thanks.

An optical digital audio format that uses light and fiber optic cables for transmitting data. Similar to S/PDIF data, often the two connectors are found side by side on semi-professional equipment.

I need to be able to switch the toslink cable inputs for two D-A units. The messy way is to manually move the cables around which is a headache. Can anyone suggest a switch that can handle the bandwidth of an ADAT signal without disrupting the optical signal.

I have tried one from maplins but I suspect it was only designed for S/PDIF because I get errors in the signal.

I've been using a MOTU 828 for the last year, almost exclusively with the analog inputs and without the manual.
I'll be working (for the first time) with a Mackie 24HDR and I'm wondering what I'll need to dump multiple tracks from the Mackie to the 828 using cubase.
I know I could just figure it out in time, but I'd like to be prepared this time.

anyone know of a simple interface to get 8 channels of audio via toslink (ADAT) thru firewire or usb? we've been using a Yamaha 01v with an ADAT card for gigs and i'd love to be able to mult the mix to the 8 tracks of ADAT and record on my ibook. fwiw, i'd be using dp (or pt) on a mac.

Anybody make one? It would work for me. I find those skinny buggers rather unmanageable.

I knew that would get someone's attention...I'd have gone for it myself! Anyway, I can't seem to find ANYWHERE that carries the "plug" or "tit" that covers the opitcal input on my gear (that little black plastic piece). I've managed to misplace several of 'em and need to buy a half dozen.
So it you know, let me know too!
