I can go new mb and pci card route but my HP laptop with USB 2.0 seems to run great with the i7 and 8 megs ram.

Have great preamps ..Grace and UA.

I really don't need preamps but seems most USB interfaces all include them. If I go that route I'd prob go the UCX.

Seems like what I need is an ADA with usb output.

I just purchased an M-Audio USB Fast Track and was surprised to find it relies completely on USB for its power. How can a 5volt USB port supply enough power for the Phantompower which is 48v? Should I get a powered USB hub?

Is there any way to use, via USB 2.0, an audio I/O and have it recognized by two computers at the same time?

Let's say I have a USB audio I/O and I want to have a desktop PC and a laptop, both running Sonar, recognize the device so that audio feed from the Audio I/O is being sent to both computers.

Hi I’m new to the site and fairly new to recording. I use a Behringer x2442USB mixer and Cubase running on my HP Laptop. Originally I connected the mixer to the computer though USB ports for input and output form the laptop was via the headphone jack leading back to the mixer. When I would turn up the volume a bit on the mixer I would get an irritating whining sound.
