if ADAT is all you have for a transfer then use it

but generally whatever works for you ... is best

ADAT stops at 48k
16bit for Type I format
20bit for Type II format
nominally it is a 48kHz, 8-channel, 24-bit data path

the February 2001 ADDENDUM
tells us about the 96kHz, 4-
channel audio interface using existing ADAT optical hardware.
