I've been thinking about building a pre from a kit for a while... just so I can learn the most basic things about electronics and hopefuly have a useable device from doing so. Can anyone recommend a place to start looking?

Thanks Seb for being so kind. :p

.....wait ... before I go ... just maybe if we ask Seb real nice we could get Seb to donate one of his older or prototype designs that didn't get off the ground to Group DIY as a fully endorsed SEBATRON Group DIY project. .... OR Seb might have something in the bottom of his ideas draw that is perfect for Group DIY. (I'm working on Joe Malone for the same thing so stay tunned). A project from Seb that perhaps shows off his tone bending nature. Sorry Seb I know this is pretty presumptuous of me to post this right here without pre-warning or even a heads up. :d: :w:

Colour is good.

As this could be the first project from Seb then I think it needs to be typical of you. So colour is probaly high on the list.

As a first project something more simple so people can get to know the style BUT it needs to seemlessly fit into the studio. If it is + balanced then it should have an I/O that you are happy with and if it is a Stomp Box then it needs to be stable with normal guitars and things.

Topology. :D
well that's where you come in.
It need to reflect your personality.
We want something that says Seb even more than it says Sebatron.

I don't want to turn you towards or away from any specific group of devices but it needs to be something that is all Seb.

I think perhaps a recording device rather than a mixdown device and perhaps mono as this might be easier as a first up project.
I lean towards a tone shaper bender .... thingy.
But if you want to go with a Mic-pre cool. We can never have too many.

People make your suggestions now. While Seb is thinking about it and keen..... and we are keen take the offer while it's there.
