Any chance of some more info? For example, what 'rack module' is it? What connectors (jacks) are on each unit - probably RCA but not necessarily. What interconnect(s) are you using? Have you checked that it's the correct impedance? How long is it? Etc.

The more info you can provide the more likely it will be you'll get the right answer.

Wow! I didn't think I would have to mention all that. But here are the details:

I'm using the digital ouput of Motif ES rack. I'm using the coaxial digital output. I'm connecting that directly to my Firebox's digital input. I don't know about impedance but there was just one digital cable Guitar center had and the salesperson knew I was going to use it for Firebox. I'm pretty sure it's the right one.

I don't think it's necessary to mention but the cable is 9 feet long and it's black! ;-)

Probably more info than you want, but not necessarily more than you need :shock:

In all honesty, it's probably something to do with the way your Firebox is set up, but you'd feel pretty stupid if you spent time and/or money trying to get your hardware fixed only to find out later that it was the cable all along.

My approach to problem solving is always to check the simplest possibilities first and in the case of the transferrance of digital data it's very easy to use the wrong type and/or length of cable.

I don't own or have any experience with the Firebox so I can't give you any specific advice, but I assume it came with some sort of software interface for controlling the routing, bit depth, sample rate, etc. There may be something in there that needs to be changed.

My S/PDIF works perfectly now! It was a matter of downloading latest version of Firebox control from their website. Tech support didn't tell me that until today! :-)
