Hi,

How can I clean a condenser mic ? I mean the the capsule.

Thank you.

Use distilled water, and drip it gently onto the capsule face. It should catch the dust for you as it rolls down and off the capsule.

When satisfied, allow it to air-dry.

Try your best not to touch the capsule face itself, even with tissue paper, as you can easily rub off or scratch the coating.

It's quite time-consuming but will preserve your mic's lifespan.

Some people use alcohol, but I wouldn't recommend it personally.

Hi sneak.

Just some words. If it is a really good mic, say a vintage Neumann, don´t do it yourself. Find someone with a lot of previous experience to do it. Chances are rather good that you will ruin things if it is your first try.

On the other hand if it is not a really good mic, then it will not matter, so go ahead. If you start on that level, the mic will probably not sound any better anyway, but it might be fun doing.
