Hi,
I have a VC1Q and think it's a really good preamp, with and excellent compressor a usable, yet very basic eq and an enhancer/deesser that is usable too. Love it for vocals, kick and as a bass DI Box (it has a built in instrument input). While I haven't heard the Focusrite I think it is not easy to compete with the Joemeek, especially in this price range....
Best,

holyrock,
I currently have a Meek VC1Qcs and I am using a C-1...needless to say, they both work well together. On the other hand, I only use the chain to record "dry" voice for commercials and narration. Your best bet is to try both out together, if possible. You know the sound you want, you just got to make sure they will deliver it. Good Luck!
