can someone help me please, i am so frustrated with this! ANYTHING!
what I'm using: Behringer Eurorack UB802, Marshall MXL 990, M-Audio Delta 44.
whats happening??::: oh its like after the phantom power is on for a while it starts going crazy, I'm getting pops, crackles, and all kinds of noise that isn't normally there. it will work fine for a while then start doing this. its crazy, i cant tell if its the mic or the mixer. ive tried both channels with phantom power and they both do it. ive disconnected all cables except for the mic cable, iove tried a really short diferent mic cable. nothing works. its not a knob or something. tried all of that. and its not a loose cable. i dont know what it is. I'm thinking that either the mixer is defective or the mic is defective. thearent that old. not even a year. i bought both directly off of musiciansfriend.com brand new.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND that these samples were recorded with the mic completely still, no movement AT ALL in the shock mount and everything.

well crap, im confused now, i found the stuff and the receipts for musiciansfriend and the products themselves are still under the factory warranty, however, musiciansfriend says they only accept returns within 45 days??? how am i supposed to do this then if marshall AND bahringer both say not to send it back to them and to instead send it back to the place of purchase? @.@

well, i guess i should have left the delta out in the first place. actually in this situation. thats where im hearing this. in the headphones on the mixer. i just threw the delta in there cause i wasnt sure what it was at first. but i know its not the delta now. its gotta be the mixer or the mic.

Bad electronic components are the manufacturers problem, not yours, if it's still under warranty. So don't worry about trying to find where the bad component is. If you're outside MF's 45 day return window then it's Behringer's duty to honor the warranty and I've never hear of them not honoring their warranty.
For the mixer, call this number: 425-672-0816, M-F, 7:30am to 5:30pm, pacific time. Tell them you have a product under warranty and need either the name of a local participating retailer that participates in the warranty exchange program or you need them to help you directly. Behring does have a warranty exchange program where they will replace your product. If the support person gives you a hard time, ask to speak to their supervisor. You really shouldn't have any problems. You're going to need that receipt though.

I have no idea what to do about your MXL mic but if you contact a local MXL deal (i.e. guitar center) they may have a number for you to call. Check out all their dealers at http://www.mxlmics.com
Also, if you have extra cables lying around or can borrow someone's cables and a mic I'd recommend making sure it's not a cable issue and try a friend's mic to see if it's actually a mic.
Keep this in mind. The gear you're troubleshooting is inexpensive (or even "cheap"), yes, this is true. But the same thing happens with gear that costs 10 times the price - trust me. I've had to send back quite a few things that cost a hell of alot more than your behri board, and some of it I've had to send back more than once within the first few months of ownership. So don't let this discourage you. Just do what you need to do to find the problem, replace or fix the problem and get on with recording your music.

well, for anybody still watching this thread, i think i may have figured out what it is: the mixer
ok so the other day i figured id time it, the popping stuff starts almost exactly right at 60 minutes. no idea why, but it does.
ALSO, if i turn the phantom power off, once the voltage drops just a little bit, the popping and everything stops. the microphone still is recieving enough voltage to work apparently since it works fine....until the voltage drops too low. if i hold the button down again for just a couple seconds, works just fine.
im not sure what all this means, but it seems like either the voltage is too high, (a component on the inside isnt limiting it or something, or ....well, im not sure, ive never had to deal with something like this before.
im still using it, just using that little technique i described above, its like just keeping it charged up.... could someone tell me if infact the phantom power voltage IS getting to high, could this damage my microphone?
lastly, i think what im going to do is, try to exchange the mixer, but im not sure how, because im really gonna need one while i dont have this one. so..i dunno.. guess ill decide later, i still got a couple months left lol

Hey DJ, you may want to try an external phantom power supply or a mic preamp for your mic and switch the phantom power off on the mixer. Most mic preamps have phantom power already, so you can "upgrade" at the same time. Who know's, you might like that Marshall
even more once you pass it through a preamp? :wink:

you know what? i think you may be right. and i was actually thinking about doing just that. i think i may get a little more warmth out of it, which i would love. that way i can bypass the mixer alltogether for right now and i can do all my eq'ing digitally anyway, although, its always nice to have the knobs right there at your fingertips huh? well, hye just out of curiosity, do you have any suggestions as to what kind of preamp or supply i should get?
some i was considering: M-AUDIO Audio Buddy, Rolls Phantom Power Supply, Nady rackmount preamp (8 channel version), and ART v3 tube pre.
anny feedback on these, or advice? i havent been reading very many good reviews on behringer products at all (as far as audio stuff goes, i personally think that most of thier controllers and things like that are awesome, but their audio stuff could use some work..., ive got a B-Control Fader and absolutely LOVE it so...iono lol)

I was using a brand new Shure KSM27 with a Tascam 1884. I did what already has been told to you, substitute my mics with others and start a process of elimination. Do that, and !START BY THE MICS!, that was the problem in my case, I sended the shure back to sweetwater, and they sended back to Shure, it came back with the same problem, and sended back again. A sweetwater technitian told me the cardiod plates wire was loose, and that was causing the frustrating noise, and believe me, I know the frustration, so go ahead and send the mic back to the manufacturer and have it replace. My brand new replacement is coming back tomorrow, so Im terribly scared of hoking it up and having the same problem

BUT i was wrong. lol. so any thoughts on what could be wrong with the mic? loose wire? faulty capacitor? should i even try to fix it myself? i dont think i will though. since it IS under warranty, i think ill just send it back.

I am glad to hear that. Since I had a Behringer UB 80? a long time ago. Just a year after I purchased it, I found that the phantom voltage would not turn ON at times when you switch it on. (Sometimes it would turn on - usually not when you needed it). I had tried to contact Behringer support and they said there was no 'known' issue regarding their product.
One thing you can do is replace the elements of the signal chain
One thing you can do is replace the elements of the signal chain one by one to find out through process of elimination where the problem is. It sounds like a bad capacitor either in the mic or mixer. But it could be a bad power supply on the Behringer board. The UB series boards by Behri don't have the higher quality power supply that the UB "Pro" series does and they're not as consistent.
Start with the mic and use a different mic, then try a different mixer. I doubt it's the delta 44 but you never know.
Are the board and mic still under warranty? If so, take it back or send it back. Have it replaced.
