I'm going to produce/engineer a 7'' EP of a band which isn't signed by any record label and either I'm not a member of any association. This CD is going to be sold on the market and sent to a record company in order that the band will get a deal. What must I do in order to protect myself and the band in order to get my royalties and prevent a typical possible rookie problem called RIP-OFF?

Thank you for any tips

Find a Lawyer, someone that has done this type os stuff before. I found that reading sample contracts and having various artists sign them simply cost me more than I would have spent on an attourney, because I didnt know what the hell the contract was saying in laymens terms.
