It's doubtful you managed to get 2 defective speakers at once.

It sounds like some sort of interference. The RCA's surely aren't helping.

Are you using a CRT monitor? Try turning it off if you are.

Is there any way you can hook up some sort of balanced source to the speakers, even one at a time, to rule them out?

Troubleshooting skills are a big plus in the studio world, here's your chance to get better at them. Rule out each component individually.

What about lights in the room? any flourescent lights? have you tried (I know this is a pain in the ass, but it's worth trying) taking your rig somewhere else? like to a different house, to see if it's coming from your electrical?

well, i have 2 lcd monitors and i tried turning them off... i tried turning off a tv.... i tried plugging them into an outlet separate from the computer... i tried feeding the krks a balanced signal from a eurorack which was supplied audio via my sound card and i still heard the noise...

im wondering if it's my sound card?

damn, I dunno. But one thing, just plugging it into a different outlet in the same house doesn't always do anything, since they're still on the same power grid.

First of all, there's nothing wrong with your speakers.

This is normal.

You're hearing things you just didn't hear before because of increased resolution. You're hearing the mouse move and other crap like that. Not hiss or ground loop issues. You can troubleshoot it as a "dirty power issue" til you're blue in the face too and that's not it.

Personally, I've not found a way to get rid of the sounds you're talking about but they only occur when the mouse is executing commands or moving, right?

These sounds do not actually get recorded, so you have no worries there.

I have learned just to live with it and ignore it as it has no bearing whatsoever on the recording or mixing process.

i dont know if you have tried this yet, but go through you computer and check all conections very imporantly the wifi card antenna. if this is not pluged in it will use anything it can find as and antenna. other than that i dont know.

This is what i have figured out with some help from KRK tech support... you may not believe this, but:

Go and buy a 3 o 2 prong adapter and plug the speakers into them.

Resolved my issues. no G5 noise anymore. All gone. All I hear now is some minor quiet ground buzz. Nothing major but at least i can trouble shoot this one. lol

so once again, if anyone has this problem that i had - "hearing" your computer through your speakers, go to radio shack or home depot and spend $2 and get the 3 to 2 prong adapter to remove the ground prong :)
