I have experience with both.

I have found the ADAM's to be far less flattering than the KRK's which to me is a good thing as they make me work harder. The KRK's are a very good "reproduction" speaker, they're fun to listen to... my problem with them is that they make me feel like I've done "genius" work when there are still issues [especially in the lower midrange] that need to be addressed.

As always... YMMV.

Heard the ADAMs at AES. To me, they sounded overly bright, but I can still hear 19 kHz, so...

If you're going to spend that kind of money, you may want to consider the Lipinski's L-505's as well. VERY costly, but in a class by themselves.

I love my KRK's too, but they don't quite tell me ALL that's going on.

Does anybody here still use the Yammy-NS-10M's anymore or are they no longer cool to have?

Being a newbie myself I'd heard that their genius was that they let you hear everything, while having the added bonus of sounding like crap. The idea being that if you could get your mix to sound good on these babies, that it would sound good over the friggin' telephone by the time you were done.

Izzat true?

I have those Adams and I'm in agreement with Fletcher here. They show all of the warts in a mix which is what I'm interested in. If you can't hear it you can't fix it. A lot of monitors make the mix sound real sweet to listen to because they're hiding all the crap that's lost in the translation. 8-) 8-)

Hmmm, it seems that it's all over bar the listening. I've read some awesome reviews about the ADAM's but to hear from users is always more reassuring. Thanks for all the input 8-)

I have the KRK V8 series 1. I find myself having to mix the vocals very loud on my monitors for them to translate well on other systems. if i have them sit well in the mix on my monitors and then listen on another system i can barely hear the vocals. Granted my mixing room has a ton of issues to be delt with and i've pretty much learned whats going on and how to compensate (yes i know it is just a band-ade for the problem not a solution). I also flipped my high end switches down because the highs on this thing are very fatiguing and this also helped not make the vocals sound sooooo much louder. All in all the KRKs are great BUT they def take some getting use to as does any monitoring system

Also yes the NS-10s are still very much in use every where but good luck getting your hands on em. The newer "equivilants" are the MSP5's (only like 2-250 a piece). And the reason you that people say "if it sounds good on the NS-10's it will sound good on anything" is because they arent good monitors by any means so the thought is that if it sounds good on speakers that dont translate for sh!t it will sound good everywhere.

I got a pari of KRK V6's, I've compared them to a set of V8's and to me the V6's sounded way more midrange, I think this is true cause after a while I tend to wanna turn my monitors lower and lower as my mix session goes on!

But I dont think this is all negative, I have found that they do make me work very hard to get a good mix, especialy in the low mid area but when I get it right, mate, the mix's sound great on almost anything, just hard work getting to that point! Im sure there are other monitors out there that will get you to that end point a lot quicker!

Overall, I'm happy with them.
