I`ve been messing around with the LA-3A from BF...i made i chain of plugs in my toms...gate>LA3A>FocusriteEQ
The problem i have is that is too dificult to me to control the level with LA 3A, so, when i like the sound the channel is clipping...to make short the history, i turn down the level with the Focusrite but the sound gets too low...then i have to insert the SONY oxforfd inflator to compesate...the tom sound just great...but the chain is a little too much...I'm afraid my CPU gonna dump me before i finish the mix...what do think? :roll:

Hi Aziel,
what do you mean experience in TDM? do you want to know which level I generally track, which plugs I use or if I have experience with BF emulations of LA2A, Pultec, etc?
I generally track between -9dB and -6dB;
I do not like the Bomb Factory emulations of LA, Pultec, Joe Meek, 1176. I have not used their new stuff yet, which seems to be prety good. However, some people claim that UA is better;
Nice weekend
:)
You could try controlling the dynamics before you hit the LA-3A
You could try controlling the dynamics before you hit the LA-3A by running it through a comp pre. You could let it clip if it sounds OK. David
